Every person is different and every counselor is different. If this is your first time seeking counseling; my biggest recommendation is to find someone with whom you're comfortable. Maybe you need kindness, maybe you need bluntness. Ask about their counseling style, ask about their philosophy, ask about their expectations of clients. Don’t be afraid to be picky and the first therapist you find may not be right for you; but keep looking.

Cost: Typical sessions are $125/50 min session.
Insurance: I don’t. I’m only able to take private pay. This allows me to be more attentive in session, more comprehensive with your care and more dynamic with my approaches. Being picky about how you handle your mental health is important. You deserve quality care.
If money is the issue, I do hold several slots for sliding scale options. Additionally, I am able to provide superbills for out of network insurance.

A normal session is 50 mins. Typically we’ll do a brief check in and then get to work. Some sessions we’ll talk the whole time, other sessions we might practice a coping skills. Portions of your time we may be doing a particular type of therapy as well. Some therapies are very rigid, many are more loose so what we do in session can change. I end my sessions with a quick debrief and plan for the next session. You’ll experience a level of clear communication at each step.
